Meet Our Chaplain
Mahmoud El-Rifai serves as the Muslim Chaplain at Boston College, bringing a unique blend of scientific expertise and spiritual wisdom to his work with students. A researcher at Harvard Medical School and a graduate student in psychology at Harvard Extension School, Mahmoud is deeply passionate about mental wellness, Islamic education, and community service. Originally from a Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon, he immigrated to the U.S. in 2010 and has since committed himself to mentoring youth and supporting underserved communities. He also serves as Director of Programming at Arkanum, a Boston-based organization that uplifts immigrant Muslim youth. With a background in counseling, Mahmoud is dedicated to guiding students through both their personal and spiritual journeys at BC.
